*******************************************************

Stage IV of the Secondary Six Admission Procedure was completed today (August 7). At present, there is only one school, Cheung Chau Government Secondary School,  left with 4 subsidised S6 places for the Commerce (Chinese medium) stream.  In this regard, there will not be any central allocation of places (Stage V) as scheduled tomorrow (August 8). All Central Allocation Application Centres will not operate.

All current year Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) participants who meet the minimum A-level entry requirements but have not yet obtained an S6 place may bring along the original and copies of their identification documents and their current year HKCEE Results Notices to Cheung Chau Government Secondary School (5B School Road, Cheung Chau, N.T.) between 9:00 am and 3:30 pm tomorrow to apply for admission direct. There will not be any interviews of applicants. The school will inform successful applicants on or before August 12 (Tuesday) to proceed with registration.

Since some students having secured places under the Secondary Six Admission Procedure may decide not to take up their places at the beginning of the new school year, vacancy information will still be available on the Education Bureau¡¦s S6 Admission Procedure webpage and all of the Bureau¡¦s Regional Education Offices throughout September. Eligible students who have yet to secure an S6 place may apply to the schools with vacancies direct.

Besides S6 school places, students can choose from a variety of sub-degree programmes based on their interests. For course details, please refer to the Information Portal for Accredited Self-financing Post-secondary Programmes  (http://www.ipass.gov.hk) or the websites of individual tertiary education institutions for publicly-funded programmes.

As for Project Yi Jin, the Federation for Continuing Education in Tertiary Institutions (FCE) will hold an exhibition cum joint registration for the full-time programme at the Hong Kong International Trade and Exhibition Centre at Kowloon Bay on August 9 and 10 and to receive applications on-site. Students who have successfully completed the programme will be awarded a full certificate that is comparable to five passes in HKCEE, with which they can further their studies by taking courses run by the FCE's member institutions as well as other institutions; or seek employment, including applying for civil service posts.
