Hong Kong was spared of major damage during the passage of Severe Tropical Storm Kammuri today (August 6).  As the storm is moving further away from the territory, the No. 8 Southeast Gale or Storm Signal was replaced by Strong Wind Signal No. 3 at 5.15 pm.

Public transport companies are gradually resuming their services.

As at 5 pm, three cases of flooding and one case of landslide have occurred on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. Nine reports of collapsed scaffoldings and one report of fallen windows, with no injuries, have been received by the Buildings Department.

Up to 5 pm, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department have received 35 reports of fallen trees.

There were 22 reports of full or partial road closure due to fallen trees or collapsed scaffoldings.

Clinics of the Department of Health will resume normal service two hours after the cancellation of typhoon signal No. 8. Venues of the Leisure and Cultural Service Department will be re-opened gradually within about two hours.

The Home Affairs Department has opened 21 temporary shelters and up to 5 pm, 132 people have sought refuge at the shelters.
