The Hong Kong Observarory issued Gale or Storm Signal No 8 at 5.40am today (August 6). Severe Tropical Storm ˇ§Kammuriˇ¨ was expected to be closest to Hong Kong around midday. The Storm Signal will possibly continue throughout today.
As at 10am, all ferry, tram and peak tram services and most bus services have been suspended while MTRC services are maintained at 10-15 minute intervals.
There have been 12 reports of road disruptions due to fallen trees and collapsed scaffoldings in various areas.
Flight schedules and operations at Hong Kong International Airport in the afternoon may possibly be disrupted when the crosswinds increase upon closer of the storm.
No report of flooding or landslide has been received.
The tin-sheet roof of a four-storey concrete structure at Cha Kwo Ling Road, Kwun Tong was blown off by wind at about 8.30am. No casualties were reported.
A total of 19 temporary shelters have been opened and as at 9am, 55 people had moved in.
