Two employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (July 28) pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal on behalf of 13 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

    At the tribunal's hearing, Leung Yuk Chun Jinny Jane trading as Yee Ka Flower Shop and Milicom Development Limited trading as Pub Wild Wild West, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $15,386.25 and $3,782.11, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

    The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $90 and $96.
