Government establishes task force on digital inclusion

    The Government announced today (July 25) the setting up of a Task Force on Digital Inclusion.

    The task force, chaired by the Government Chief Information Officer, Mr Jeremy Godfrey, will advise the Government on formulation of the relevant strategies and initiatives for addressing digital inclusion issues.

    "Building an inclusive, knowledge-based society is one of the main focuses in our Digital 21 Strategy.  We have the conviction that all sectors of the community are entitled to benefit from the advancement of information and communications technology (ICT), so that everyone can have the equal opportunity to achieve their full potential in promoting their sustainable development and improving their quality of life through ICT," Mr Godfrey said.

    "To ensure that a holistic approach is taken in tackling the digital divide issue with regard to the different needs of sub-groups, the task force comprises representatives from the industry, academia, supporting organisations and relevant government departments," Mr Godfrey said.

    The task force has 14 members. The membership is as follows:
