Tuen Mun food factory ordered to suspend business
*************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has ordered a food factory in Tuen Mun to suspend business for 14 days after repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The food factory, at Shop No 158, ground floor, Commercial Block, Yuet Wu Villa, was ordered to suspend business from today (July 24) to August 6, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In November last year and May this year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the food premises.

"A total fine of $3,600 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the same food factory had two convictions in November last year for the same offence.

"A total fine of $8,800 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from January 23 to 29 this year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
