Following the earlier announcement about nine residents in the Developmental Disabilities Unit (DDU) of Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) presenting with fever and respiratory symptoms, the hospital announced the following updates today (July 23):
One more boy (aged 10) and two staff members of the concerned unit have presented with fever and respiratory symptoms. The boy is being isolated for treatment and in stable condition. The staff members have recovered. Since July 18, a total of 10 residents (five male and five female) and two staff members have presented with symptoms. Presently four children are positive for Rhinovirus. Other test results are pending.
Infection control measures on the concerned floor have already been enhanced. There will be no new admissions while visiting arrangements remain unchanged. All other residents in the unit are under close surveillance.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for follow-up.
