In response to media enquiries, the Labour Department gave the following reply today (July 22):
The Labour Department was glad that after two rounds of meetings mediated by the department yesterday and today, the Watsons Water management and its staff reached an agreement today (July 22).
The department appeals to all employers and employees to foster and maintain good labour relations through establishing mutual understanding and frank communications. Employers and employees are encouraged to resolve their differences in a sympathetic, pragmatic and rational manner.
Apart from working actively through various channels, the Labour Department is also in close liaison with industry stakeholders to promote good labour relations. Members of the public are welcome to contact the Labour Department for enquiries and assistance regarding labour relations issues.
