The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Tai Po to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The restaurant, at Shop No 81, ground floor, Fortune Plaza, On Chee Road, Tai Po Town Lot 3, was ordered to suspend business from today (July 21) to August 3, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.
"In October last year and May this year, there were two convictions in respect of preparing food in open space and unauthorised extension of food business at the food premises.
"A total fine of $2,000 was levied and 15 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.
He said the food premises also had convictions for unauthorised extension of food business in May and June last year.
"A total fine of $1,200 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from August 30 to September 5 last year," the spokesman said.
He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
