Following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) by the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, at a media session after visiting the elderly in Sha Kok Estate in Sha Tin today (July 11):
Reporter: Will you do more to ease the effect of the growing inflation?
Chief Executive: Inflation is a global problem. It's not only one that can be addressed simply by government money or subvention. But there are things that we could do. For instance, in the last Budget the Financial Secretary had done a great number of things including additional payment for people on CSSA, rental concession for those living in public housing estates and additional payment for those who are on elderly allowances. So there are things that we are trying to do but there are limits to what we can do, and I'm trying to learn the issues as well, and see how we may at least ease the burden of the poorer sector of the community.
