Ancillary road works at Hang Hau Tsuen Channel in Lau Fau Shan gazetted

    The Government today (July 11) published a notice in the Gazette on ancillary road works to Hang Hau Tsuen Channel at Lau Fau Shan as part of a drainage improvement project required to alleviate flooding.

    The proposed works include constructing an approximately 400 metre long drainage channel and provision of a carriageway with associated maintenance access ramp, footpaths and a car park; constructing four footbridges across the Hang Hau Tsuen Channel and ancillary works including water pipe laying, drainage and constructing retaining walls.

    Existing footbridges will be permanently closed and demolished. Some sections of existing footpaths and tracks will be permanently closed.

    The works will start at the end of 2009 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2012. Pedestrian access will be maintained during construction.

    The plan and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

(i)  Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central;

(ii) Yuen Long District Office, Yuen Long District Office Building, 269 Castle Peak Road, Yuen Long; and

(iii) District Lands Office, Yuen Long, 9th floor, Yuen Long Government Offices, 2 Kiu Lok Square, Yuen Long.

    Anyone who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before September 9.
