Temporary closure of Tung Chung Battery

The spokesman for the Antiquities and Monuments Office announced today (July 7) that the completion date for maintenance at Tung Chung Battery is now deferred to August 8 because of inclement weather. It will be reopened on August 9.
Located near the pier on Tung Chung Road in Tung Chung, Lantau Island, the battery was built in 1817. An L-shaped wall with a platform at the corner, probably used for gun emplacements, was preserved in situ.
