The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (July 7) ordered the temporary closure of a food premises in Sai Kung for thorough cleaning and disinfection.
The FEHD was informed by the Department of Health of three suspected food poisoning outbreaks involving twenty-six people related to a restaurant on ground floor, 98, 100 and 102, Man Nin Street, Sai Kung.
"Although we have advised the concerned premises to take control measures after the first outbreak, two more outbreaks were notified today, thus showing signs of continuation. There are epidemiological grounds to support the temporary closure of the food premises for thorough cleaning and disinfection," a spokesman for the department said.
The food premises will remain closed until the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene is fully satisfied that the immediate health hazards on the premises have been eliminated.
Under the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, the Director is empowered to quickly close premises that pose an immediate health hazard to the public.
