The Land Registry today (July 4) released land registration statistics recorded for the first half of 2008.
The total number of sale and purchase agreements for all types of building units received for registration in the Land Registry for the period was 75,320. This represented a decrease of 8.4% compared with the second half of 2007 but an increase of 18.6% compared with the first half of 2007.
The total amount of consideration involved in these agreements was $288.73 billion. This was down 7.4% compared with the second half of 2007 but up 35.1% compared with the first half of 2007.
During the first half of 2008, 100,429 assignments of building units were lodged for registration. This was 15.5% above the 86,916 assignments recorded during the second half of 2007 and 40.7% above the 71,371 assignments recorded in the first half of 2007.
The total consideration amounted to $356.64 billion. This was an increase of 28.3% over the second half of 2007 and 84.6% over the first half of 2007.
Searches of land records made by members of the public during the first half of 2008 totalled 2,604,881. This was up 0.8% compared with the second half of 2007 and 19.7% compared with the first half of 2007.
