Appointment to Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board

    The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau today (June 30) announced that the Financial Secretary had appointed the chairman and members of the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board (HKDPB) under the Deposit Protection Scheme Ordinance (DPSO).  The appointments are effective for a term of two years starting tomorrow (July 1).

    The appointments are as follows:

Professor Andrew Chan Chi-fai, SBS, JP (Chairman)
Mr Ian Chapman (member)
Professor David Cheung Wai-lok (member)
Mr Nicholas Peter Etches (member)
Professor Yeung Yuet-bor (member)
Ms Eleanor Wan Yuen-yung (member)

    Except for Ms Wan, all other members, including the chairman, are serving members of the HKDPB.

    The HKDPB is established under the DPSO.  Its principal function is to establish and maintain the Deposit Protection Scheme in Hong Kong.

    The appointments will be gazetted this Friday (July 4).
