The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a food factory in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The food factory, at No 2, ground floor, Block Q, Wing Fat Building, Ma Miu Road, was ordered to suspend business from today (June 29) to July 12, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.
"In January and April this year, there were two convictions in respect of unauthorised extension of food business at the food premises.
"A total fine of $10,000 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.
He said the food premises also had two convictions in June and September last year for the same offence.
"A total fine of $5,500 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from December 25 to 31 last year," the spokesman said.
He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
