The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Kwai Chung to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The restaurant, at ground floor, No 37 Shing Fong Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (June 26) to July 9, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.
"In June last year and March this year, there were two convictions for failing to cover food properly at the food premises."
"A total fine of $3,000 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.
He said the restaurant also had convictions in December 2006 and March last year for the same offence.
"A total fine of $2,700 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from June 4 to 10 last year," the spokesman said.
He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
