The Islands District Office today (June 19) reported on the latest situation in the Tai O area. The conditions of flooding and landslide in Tai O have not worsened.
Water supply to Tai O and the villages in the vicinity of Tai O was normal.
Urgent repair works on Keung Shan Road were completed. One of the lanes in the affected section of Keung Shan Road will be reopened at 10am tomorrow (June 20) for one-lane-two-way traffic. Services of New Lantau Bus routes running on Keung Shan Road will resume as normal at the same time. Tai O Road is fully opened for public use.
CAS members continued to visit villages in Tai O and provided assistance to villagers as necessary.
So far nine families involving about 30 people have moved into temporary public housing units in Yat Tung Estate, Tung Chung, while 24 families of about 40 people are staying at Lung Tin Estate, Tai O.
Residents who were affected by the rainstorms and have financial difficulties may apply to the Islands District Office for emergency relief funds.
