The Islands District Office today (June 16) reported on the latest situation in the Tai O area. The conditions of flooding and landslide in Tai O have not worsened.
Water supply to Tai O and the villages in the vicinity of Tai O was normal.
Repair works on Keung Shan Road were in progress. The Highways Department has provided a temporary traffic lane on Keung Shan Road for passage of engineering vehicles, emergency rescue vehicles and vehicles for transporting relief materials. Tai O Road was fully opened for public use.
Traffic between Tai O and Ngong Ping had resumed and the bus services between Tai O and Ngong Ping (Route No 21) had started to provide limited services since yesterday.
Members of Civil Aid Services continued to visit villages in Tai O and provided assistance to villagers when necessary.
So far, six families involving about 20 people have moved into temporary public housing units in Yat Tung Estate, Tung Chung, while 18 families of about 30 people were staying at Lung Tin Estate, Tai O.
Residents who were affected by the rainstorms and have financial difficulties may apply to the Islands District Office for emergency relief funds.
