Secretary for the Environment to visit London

    The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, will leave Hong Kong tonight (June 12) for an official visit to London.

    Mr Yau will call on the Head of Environment, Greater London Authority, Ms Shirley Rodrigues, and the Chief Executive of the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets, Mr Alistair Buchanan.

    During the visit, he will also meet the Chairman of the Committee on Climate Change, Lord Turner; the Manager of C40 Cities Secretariat, Mr Simon Reddy, and the former Mayor of London, Mr Ken Livingstone, to exchange views on environmental issues of mutual concern.

    Mr Yau will attend the Chatham House Conference on Climate Change and will participate in a panel discussion on ¡§The Role of Cities in Promoting Energy Efficiencies on a Big Scale and Developing New Technologies.¡¨

    Mr Yau will return to Hong Kong on June 17.
