*************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Kwai Chung to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop E, ground floor, Victory Court, No 38 Shun Fong Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (June 11) to June 24, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In October last year and April this year, there were two convictions in respect of unauthorised extension of food business at the food premises.

"A total fine of $4,000 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the restaurant also had a conviction in December,2006, for dirty food room and for unauthorised extension of food business in June last year.

"A total fine of $2,800 was levied and 15 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from August 22 to 28 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
