Yuen Long restaurant ordered to suspend business
************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop N, ground floor, Ho Fat Building, 18 Sai Yu Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (June 10) to June 23, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In August last year and February this year, there were two convictions in respect of unauthorised extension of food business at the food premises," the spokesman said.

"A total fine of $9,000 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension."

He said the restaurant also had convictions in May and July last year for the same offence.

"A total fine of $5,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from November 4 to 10 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
