Officers of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (June 6) raided an unlicensed food factory at Wang Toi Shan, Pat Heung, Yuen Long and seized about 320 kilogrammes of rice dumplings and dumpling fillings and some paraphernalia.
During the operation, a woman was arrested and is assisting investigations.
Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.
"We will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food business to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.
"People should report such illegal activities through the department's hotline at 2868 0000."
