Emergency relief for cyclone victims in Myanmar approved

    The Government has accepted the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee and approved two grants from the Disaster Relief Fund totalling $5.63 million for two relief agencies to undertake relief projects for cyclone victims in Myanmar.

    Announcing the grants today (May 30), a government spokesman said that the committee hoped the two grants - one of $5 million to World Vision Hong Kong and another of $0.63 million to Mˆmdecins Sans Frontiˆores ¡V would help provide relief to cyclone victims in Myanmar.

    "To ensure that the money will be used for the designated purposes, the two relief agencies have been asked to submit evaluation reports and audited accounts on the use of the grants after the relief projects have been completed," the spokesman said.
