The Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, Sichuan Provincial People's Government, Mr He Ping, and the Deputy Director of Sichuan Provincial Department of Public Health, Mr Zhao Xiao Quang, today (May 26), on behalf of the Disaster Relief Command of the Sichuan Provincial People's Government, presented a banner to the HKSAR public professional team in appreciation of the efforts of 15 team members in providing assistance in environmental hygiene control in the earthquake disaster areas.
Receiving the banner in Chengdu were the Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs, Chengdu, Mr Richard Luk Fong-chun, and the Principal Medical Officer, Dr Mok Chiu-yau.
The public health professional team completed its mission at Yingxiu Town, Wenchuan County, where they had effectively assisted in the implementation of infection control and environmental disinfection, and offered professional advice on water sanitation.
The team comprised doctors from the Department of Health, health inspector, foreman and workman grade officers from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and chemists from the Water Supplies Department. They will return to Hong Kong tomorrow (May 27).
