The following is issued on behalf the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (May 23) obtained two orders in the District Court against two employers for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $340,000.
The District Court issued judgments against Elique Limited and Flying Engineering Ltd. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA the sums of $286,886.59 and $54,800.44, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 27 and three employees respectively.
The amounts awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees¡¦ MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendants each to pay costs of $930.
