S for S welcomes government search and rescue team back from Sichuan (with photos)

    The Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose SK Lee, greeted members of the government search and rescue team on their return from Sichuan this  evening (May 22).

    Welcoming them at the Hong Kong International Airport, Mr Lee said he was proud of the selfless contributions that the volunteer team had made towards helping those affected by the disastrous earthquake.

    "On behalf of the Chief Executive and the people of Hong Kong, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to you all for what you have done in assisting with the search and rescue work in areas affected by the earthquake.

    "I am particularly impressed by the bravery and professionalism you have displayed in accomplishing this extremely difficult yet meaningful mission.

    "I am also delighted to learn that your hard work has won praise and recognition from the Sichuan Provincial Peopleˇ¦s Government," he said.

    Those returning included 43 officers from the Fire Services Department, the Department of Health and the Information Services Department.
