A 15-member public health professional team from the Hong Kong SAR Government left today (May 19) for Sichuan to provide assistance in the earthquake disaster areas.
The team comprises three doctors from the Department of Health, 10 health inspector, foreman and workman grade officers from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) and two chemists from the Water Supplies Department.
They will provide assistance in the implementation of infection control measures and environmental disinfection, and offer professional advice on water sanitation.
Before departure, the Director of the FEHD, Mr Cheuk Wing-hing, the Director of Water Supplies, Mr Ma Lee-tak, and the Acting Controller of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, Dr Leung Ting-hung, spoke to the team and urged them to bring Hong Kong peopleˇ¦s care and concern to people in the affected areas. They also thanked the team members for their dedication to this operation and encouraged them to do their best in the mission.
