The following is issued on behalf of the Sir David Trench Fund Committee:
The Sir David Trench Fund Committee is inviting applications for grants from the Main Fund of the Sir David Trench Fund for Recreation in 2008-09.
The fund is to be used for provision of facilities and purchase of equipment for recreational, sporting and cultural related projects to encourage the purposeful use of leisure by individuals. In keeping with the donor¡¦s wishes, emphasis is placed on encouraging the purposeful use of leisure by young people.
Three categories of grants are available under the fund. They are:
Category Funding Scope

Capital Works Projects For construction of new recreational
facilities, which is of long-term
benefit and reach out to the widest
possible cross-section of the
community
Non-Capital Works Projects Purchase of sports and recreational
equipment, which should have
long-term benefit and for
collective use
Special Projects For purchase of higher valued sports
equipment for training of athletes
in preparation for attending local
and/or international sport
competitions or for holding sport
competitions at international level
in 2008-09

Completed application forms should be sent to the Secretariat of the Sir David Trench Fund Committee at 41/F, Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
Each applicant can submit only one application for the same category within the same year. The deadlines for applications for different categories of grants are:
