The Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, today (May 15) expressed his full support to the volunteer team of government officers leaving for Sichuan to help with rescue work in areas affected by the disastrous earthquake.
"As the Chief Executive has said, the Hong Kong SAR Government will do everything possible to assist Mainland authorities as far as rescue work is concerned," he said.
"I firmly believe that you all will accomplish this most important task with professionalism," Mr Lee told team members at a meeting with them at the Tung Chung Fire Station on May 13.
Those travelling to Sichuan this morning (May 15) include officers from the Fire Services Department, the Department of Health and the Information Services Department.
