New application forms for employment as professionals and for training
**********************************************************

The Immigration Department today (May 14) announced that new application forms would be introduced for people seeking entry to Hong Kong for employment as professionals or for training.

"Application for Entry for Employment as Professionals in Hong Kong" (Form Nos ID 990A and ID990B) and "Application for Entry for Training in Hong Kong" (Form Nos ID 992A and ID992B) will take effect from Monday (May 19).

An Immigration Department spokesman said the new simplified application forms together with the streamlined measures were more user-friendly to applicants and their local employing/sponsoring companies.

Under the current arrangements, people applying for entry for employment as professionals under different admission schemes are required to fill in different forms.  From next Monday, those applying for entry for employment as professionals are required only to complete the new forms irrespective of the schemes they are joining.  The new forms also accommodate the information of accompanying dependants who will no longer be required to complete separate application forms as at present.

Documents required to support these applications have also been streamlined so that certain documents relating to the employing/sponsoring companies will be exempted, such as the business registration certificate, financial statement and company background.

The spokesman said this was provided that the company concerned had successfully obtained an employment or training visa/entry permit for a non-local in the past 18 months immediately before the submission of application.

The new application forms can be obtained free of charge from the Information and Liaison Section, Immigration Department, any Immigration Branch Offices, District Offices, overseas Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Missions and Hong Kong's network of offices on the Mainland and overseas from May 19.  The application forms can also be downloaded from the Immigration Department website at www.immd.gov.hk.

The existing application forms for entry for employment as professionals and for training will continue to be accepted until August 31.
