District Offices and Post Offices to collect donations for earthquake relief

    The Home Affairs Department has put in place a mechanism to channel donations from Hong Kong citizens to the victims of the earthquake in the mainland.

    Starting from tomorrow (May 14) afternoon, 20 Public Enquiries Services Centres of the 18 District Offices and Post Offices (except the mobile post offices) will start to collect donations from citizens during office hours.

    Citizens are encouraged to make their donations by cheques. They should be made payable to "The Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporated - Donations".  A receipt will be issued.

    Cash donations may be paid at HSBC into account number "502-256803-001".

    All donations will be passed to five relief organisations namely Hong Kong Red Cross, World Vision Hong Kong, Oxfam Hong Kong, United Nations Childrenˇ¦s Fund, and The Salvation Army for emergency relief operations related to the Sichuan earthquake.
