Government departments have done their best to provide assistance to the victims and their families involved in the serious traffic accident which occurred in Sai Kung this morning.
Home Affairs Department immediately set up hotlines and established inter-departmental help desks or sent Liaison Officers on site to the hospitals involved to provide one-stop assistance. The Department also contacted them and if necessary, helped them to apply emergency relief money to address their immediate need.
Social Welfare Department immediately deployed social workers to the hospitals to provide assistance to the families of the victims including emotional support, counseling and assistance with the burial arrangement. If they have financial difficulties, the department will provide all necessary assistance. The department will continue to follow up their welfare needs.
The Fire Services Department deployed 200 operational staff, 14 fire services vehicles and 33 ambulances and the Police deployed 139 police officers for the rescue on site.
