********************************************************

The Youth Work Experience and Training Scheme (YWETS) of the Labour Department will co-organise a job fair for youths with its "Yuen Long Town Hall" training body, at Kingswood Ginza Cine Valley, Tin Shui Wai, on Tuesday (April 22).

The job fair will provide about 2,000 vacancies for young job-seekers.

A total of 16 companies, mainly from the retail, catering, personal service and property agency sectors, will set up recruitment booths at the venue to receive job applications and conduct on-site interviews.  The vacancies offered include positions such as clerk, shop assistant, chef and beauty specialist.

The majority of the vacancies offer a monthly salary ranging from $5,000 to $12,000. About 90% of these vacancies require Form 5 educational level or below.  Approximately 90% of them are full-time jobs.

The job fair will be held from 10.30am to 5.30pm at Kingswood Ginza Cine Valley, Tin Shui Wai (next to MTR Ginza Station).  Admission is free.  A free shuttle bus service will be provided to take participants to and from the venue within Yuen Long District.  For details, please visit the YWETS website: www.ywets.labour.gov.hk, or call 2112 9932.

The YWETS and the Youth Pre-employment Training Programme (YPTP) of the department provide pre-employment and on-the-job training as well as placement assistance to young people aged 15 to 24 with educational attainment below the degree level.  Joint application for places on the two programmes is underway.  Interested young people can submit applications through the YWETS counter at the job fair.

Application forms can also be obtained from the YPTP and YWETS Offices, Job Centres of the Labour Department and relevant training bodies or the Youth Employment Services website: www.yes.labour.gov.hk.
