The Housing Authorityˇ¦s Subsidised Housing Committee (SHC) today (March 17) endorsed an upward adjustment to the Waiting List income and asset limits for 2008-09.
Based on the established review mechanism, the income and asset limits for 2008-09 will be increased by an average of 5.5% and 3.1% respectively. For one-person and four-person households, the income limits will increase from $6,800 and $14,600 to $7,300 and $15,300 respectively.
The asset limits for one-person and four-person households will go up from $176,000 and $362,000 to $181,000 and $373,000 respectively. (see Table)
ˇ§The new set of income and asset limits will take effect on April 1. It is estimated that about 104,900 non-owner occupied households in the private sector (27.6 %) will be eligible for public rental housing, up 5,100 from the current 99,800 households (26.2%),ˇ¨ chairman of the Subsidised Housing Committee, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung said.
