A total of 194 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 163 summonses were issued to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during an operation by Traffic Kowloon East yesterday (March 14).
The Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day was conducted between 7am and 11pm yesterday and 304 officers from Traffic Kowloon East, District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were deployed to enforce regulations at traffic accident blacksites and the potential traffic accident locations in Kowloon East Region.
Another 240 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences.
A total of 150 pedestrians were verbally warned for jaywalking, and 105 drivers were warned over other minor traffic offences.
Pamphlets and leaflets on road safety message were also distributed to road users.
Statistics revealed that there were 350 traffic accidents in Kowloon East Region from January to February 2008.
