The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 13) obtained an order in the District Court against an employer for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $160,000.
The court today issued judgment against Hoi Tat Food & Beverage Holdings Limited which was ordered to pay the MPFA $163,018.06, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 40 employees of the defendant.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The District Court further ordered the defendant to pay costs of $930.
