The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in February showed a decrease of 0.3% (868 cases) over January, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (March 5).
Total CSSA caseload at the end of February stood at 286,250 (see attached table), with 492,876 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases showed a continued decrease of 1.4% in February to 31,862.
Single parent cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.4% in February to 36,717.
Low earning cases showed a month-to-month decrease of 0.4% to stand at 17,009.
Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was about $17.6 billion for 2006-07.
