FS' transcript after radio phone-in (With photo and video)
**********************************************************

Following is the transcript (English portion) of remarks by the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, at a media stand-up after attending a radio programme on the 2008-09 Budget hosted by RTHK3 this morning (February 29):

Reporter: Mr Tsang, what is your feeling about the radio phone-in this morning? What do you think about some kind of suggestions by the audiences, for example, widening the tax base?

Financial Secretary: I love radio phone-ins. This is one way for me to speak with a lot of people directly. And we have such incredible radio hosts and we can't have a better time. What is quite clear is that people talked about the narrow tax base. It is quite clear that we did a review in 2006 and in the review it was quite clear that the community agreed that we had a narrow tax base, but there was not a very clear view as to how we could make that better, because obviously people at that time did not like the GST. So what we need to do is to review this matter and look into it, do some further analysis and see how we can propose new suggestions that would help broaden the tax base.
