Lantern Carnival held at Tsing Yi Park tonight

    A seven-metre-high lantern featuring romantic lovers at the lantern carnival at Tsing Yi Park tonight (February 22) became the focus of photo-taking and filled the park with a festive atmosphere.

    Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the carnival also had a Chinese traditional stage arts show, Chinese music performance, golden oldies, Chinese magic, a lantern quiz and fortune-telling.

    The lantern carnival will also be held at Po Tsui Park in Tseung Kwan O tomorrow (February 23). Details are as follows:
    Time: 7.30pm-10.30pm
    Venue: Po Tsui Park, Tseung Kwan O
    Programmes: Chinese traditional stage arts show,
    choral concert, golden oldies, Chinese traditional
    puppet and shadow show, lantern quiz, fortune-telling
    and roving entertainment.

    The spectacular lantern display "Light up for the Beijing Games" lights up the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza until March 9, while "Glowing Fuwa, Blessings for Lunar New Year" is on display at West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade until February 24. A free shuttle bus service runs between Kowloon Park (near the entrance at Austin Road) and West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade on February 23 (Saturday) and February 24 (Sunday) from 6pm to 11.15pm.

    The Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza display features a giant red arch inviting everyone to take part in celebrating the Beijing 2008 Olympics. Glittering lanterns depicting the Fuwa playing different sports are also on display. At the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade, "Glowing Fuwa, Blessings for Lunar New Year" displays the Fuwa competing in different sports.
