Traffic safety enforced in Kowloon East operation

    A total of 147 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 145 summonses were issued to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during an operation by Traffic Kowloon East yesterday (February 21).

    The Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day was conducted between 7am and 11pm yesterday during which 205 officers from Traffic Kowloon East and the District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were deployed to enforce regulations at traffic accident blacksites and potential traffic accident locations in the Kowloon East Region.

    Another 124 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences.

    A total of 161 pedestrians were verbally warned for jaywalking, and 128 drivers were warned over other minor traffic offences.

    Pamphlets and leaflets on road safety were also distributed to road users.

    Statistics revealed that there were 187 traffic accidents in Kowloon East Region in January 2007.
