Castle Peak Hospital reports Norovirus cases

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    The spokesperson of Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) made the following announcement today (February 21):

    Four male patients (aged 45 to 54) in a long stay ward of CPH have presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms since February 19.  Appropriate tests were arranged for these patients and three of them are positive for Norovirus.  The patients have been transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment under isolation and are in stable condition.
    Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up.  Admission to the ward has been suspended and a restricted visiting policy imposed.  All patients are under close medical surveillance. 

    The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
