A Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) spokesperson made the following announcement today (February 18):
Since February 15, three male patients (aged 78 to 94) and one staff member of a mixed specialty ward for male and female patients have presented with vomit and diarrhoea symptoms. The patients were being treated under isolation and they are in stable condition. The symptoms of the staff member have subsided. Appropriate tests have been arranged for the patients and the results are pending.
Admission to the ward has been suspended while discharge from the ward remains normal. A restricted visiting policy has been imposed. Patients' relatives have been informed about the situation. Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up. All other patients and the staff in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
