The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
Regarding a long-stay ward of Castle Peak Hospital in which some patients have presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms, the hospital announced the following update today (February 14).
Two male patients (aged 27 and 52) of the concerned ward presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptom today. Patients are being transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital and treated under isolation. Their condition is stable. Appropriate tests will be arranged for the patients. Up to now, there are five patients presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms. The test results of four patients were found positive to Norovirus.
Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up. Admission to the ward has been suspended while all patients are under close medical surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
