Relief for mariculturists affected by cold weather

    Local mariculturists suffering fish losses caused by the recent cold weather can register from next Monday (February 18) to February 26 with the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) for grants from the Emergency Relief Fund.

    A department spokesman said today (February 14) that a grant from the relief fund would be made to affected mariculturists according to established criteria.

    The department's preliminary investigation has indicated that 14 fish culture zones have been affected by the recent cold weather.

    "The assistance is intended to provide some relief to affected mariculturists," the spokesman said.

    Applicants for the fund should register at the following offices within the specified period:

* Aberdeen Fisheries Office. 2/F, No 100A Shek Pai Wan Road, Aberdeen.
* Tai Po Fisheries Office. 2/F, No 3 Yu On Street, Sam Mun Tsai, Tai Po.
* Sai Kung Fisheries Office. 5/F, No 34 Chan Man Street, Sai Kung.
* Fish Marketing Organisation, Cheung Chau Office. 1/F, No 83B Praya Street, Cheung Chau.
