Re-appointment of non-executive director to MPFA

    The Financial Secretary has re-appointed Mr Edward Chan King-sang as a non-executive director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) for a further term of two years starting from March 17 this year. The re-appointment was made under the authority delegated by the Chief Executive.

    A Government spokesman said today ( February 1), ˇ§Mr Chan has made enormous input to the work of the MPFA in the past four years.  We look forward to his continuing contribution to the work of the MPFA.ˇ¨

    The Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) system has been operating smoothly since its launch in December 2000.  The MPFA, established in September 1998 under the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance, is the statutory body responsible for the regulation of the MPF system.  It also regulates occupational retirement schemes established by employers on a voluntary basis.
