Tuen Mun restaurant ordered to suspend business
***********************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Tuen Mun to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop C1, ground floor, Kam Moon Court, 54 Yan Oi Tong Circuit, was ordered to suspend business from today (January 31) to February 13, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In May and November last year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the said premises.

"A total fine of $2,200 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the same restaurant had two convictions in April 2006, one for illegal extension of food business and another for preparing food in open space.

"A total fine of $3,600 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from August 23 to 29 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
