¡@¡@A man was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment, suspended for two years, by the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today (January 30) for assaulting a public officer. He was also fined $5,000 and ordered to pay $500 to the victim.
¡@¡@The incident took place on November 22 last year when Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) officers were conducting a raid on Kowloon City Road.
¡@¡@A woman was also fined $400 by the court for causing obstruction in a public place in the same incident.
¡@¡@"Use of violence against public officers is not only wrong, but also carries legal consequences," a department spokesman said.
He urged the public to co-operate with law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties.
