The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, today (January 25) visited Central and Western District to gain a better understanding of the latest developments in the district.
Accompanied by Central and Western District Officer, Miss Eliza Yau, Professor Chan first visited a kindergarten operated by the St James’ Settlement at the Westwood. He said he was impressed by the modern design of the school facilities and the proactive learning spirit of the classes. Professor Chan chatted with students attending the drawing and taekwondo classes.
Professor Chan also toured shops along Cochrane Street where he chatted with shopkeepers to learn more about the latest retail businesses there.
Professor Chan then visited the Central Police Compound. He said he supported the concept of revitalising historic buildings, which will give those buildings a new look for the public. Professor Chan also toured the Hong Kong and Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture, which is being held at the compound.
Before concluding his visit, Professor Chan met with members of the Central and Western District Council at a tea reception where they exchanged views on various community issues.
