The Buildings Department approved 17 building plans in December, 2007 - four on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.
Of the approved plans, nine were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, one was for commercial developments, four were for factory and industrial developments and three were for community services developments.
In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 16 building projects that, when completed, will provide 112,451 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1,063 units, and 62,044 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.
The department also issued 16 occupation permits - five on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.
Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 106,478 square metres, involving 1,581 units, and 137,965 square metres for non-domestic use.
The declared cost of the new buildings completed in December totalled about $2.5 billion.
In addition, 12 demolition consents involving 12 building structures were issued.
The department received 1,787 complaints against unauthorised building works in December, and issued 2,082 removal orders on unauthorised works.
